About the teacher

Mira is an accomplished violinist and dedicated educator whose international background and extensive performance experience enrich her engaging and student-centred teaching approach. Born in Belgium, and of Belgian-Korean heritage, Mira has lived and studied across Europe and the United States, developing a deep appreciation for cultural diversity and the arts. Fluent in several languages, she creates an inclusive and supportive learning environment for students of all ages and abilities.

 

Mira began studying violin and piano at the age of five, growing up in a musical family where both parents were musicians. She holds a Master of Music in Violin with Distinction from the Royal College of Music (2023–2025), where she studied under Maciej Rakowski and Leonid Kerbel. Prior to this, she graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Music in Violin from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, studying with Markus Placci. Her early training includes studies at Wellington College and De Kunstbrug, alongside private instruction with renowned teachers such as Olga Zolotareva and Young Shin Choi.

 

As an educator, Mira has a wealth of teaching experience, including roles at Ealing Junior Music School and the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, where she also specialised in Advanced Strings Pedagogy. Her teaching philosophy centres on fostering a genuine love for music through personalised lessons tailored to each student’s goals, interests, and learning style. She views the learning process as collaborative, ensuring students feel inspired, confident, and motivated.

 

Mira maintains an active performance career. She has held leadership roles such as concertmaster and co-leader with ensembles including the Boston Civic Symphony Orchestra, Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra, and Albion Orchestra. A passionate chamber musician, she is a member of the Jasmine Quartet, which has received special commendations in the Royal College of Music’s Contemporary and String Quartet competitions.

 

Through her warm and inspiring approach, Mira empowers students to develop strong technical foundations while cultivating a lifelong appreciation for music.
