About the teacher

Eoin is a passionate trumpeter and dedicated educator who recently completed his Master of Performance at the Royal College of Music in London. A graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with a Bachelor of Music (Honours), he combines strong academic foundations with vibrant performance experience across orchestral, chamber, and educational settings.

As a freelance performer, Eoin has played with leading ensembles including the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, the Ulster Orchestra, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, and the Orchestra of Scottish Opera, where he is listed as an extra trumpet. His diverse engagements reflect a versatile musicianship and a deep commitment to artistic excellence.

Alongside his performance career, Eoin is an enthusiastic teacher with growing experience as a trumpet tutor in London. He is passionate about helping students discover their unique musical voices while developing solid technique, expressive control, and confidence. His involvement in educational outreach projects—such as assisting with RCM Sparks workshops and serving as a guest tutor with the Tri-Borough Music Hub—demonstrates his dedication to widening access to music education and inspiring young learners.

Eoin’s achievements include recognition as a finalist in the Dublin Brass Week Concerto Competition and recipient of the David James Prize for Chamber Music. These accolades reflect his musical curiosity, collaborative spirit, and commitment to continuous growth as both performer and educator.

In his teaching, Eoin draws on his professional orchestral experience to create engaging, student-centred lessons that nurture creativity, discipline, and joy in music-making. Whether guiding beginners through their first notes or mentoring advanced students towards auditions, he strives to instil a lasting appreciation for the art of brass playing and the shared experience of making music.
